Tony Stewart took a wild tumble in a sprint car race Monday night at Ohsweken Speedway, a 3/8-mile dirt track in Ontario, Canada.

On Lap 18 of 25, Stewart was challenging for the lead when he appeared to bobble in Turn 3 after hitting the cushion -- the pile of dirt that collects in the outer groove on a dirt track -- and then flipped end-over-end five times.

The three-time NASCAR Cup champion walked away uninjured, according to a release distributed by the track.

In an email sent to USA Today’s Jeff Gluck, a spokesman confirmed Stewart was “fine” and will compete at Ohsweken Tuesday in a World of Outlaws sprint car race.

It has been an eventful few weeks of sprint car racing for Stewart, who was involved in another accident on July 16 at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park that left a 19-year-old female racer injured.

Outside of his extensive NASCAR schedule, Stewart frequently moonlights racing on short tracks throughout the United States and Canada.

He told reporters at Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- where a Stewart-owned car driven by Ryan Newman won the Brickyard 400 -- that he plans on competing in dirt races every night this week with the exception of Wednesday due to a scheduled Cup test.

“A lot of those days are doubled-up days,” Stewart said. “We have a busy week. Can’t think of a better week to celebrate.”
