NASCAR at Charlotte Motor Speedway 2014: Lineup, starting grid for Coca-Cola 600

Jimmie Johnson starts in pole position on Sunday looking for his fourth career Coca-Cola 600 victory.

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

The 55th annual Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday features a driver in pole position who has enjoyed more than his share of success at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Jimmie Johnson captured the pole with a qualifying speed of 194.911 mph on Thursday night.

It is the first pole position of the season for Johnson, still in search of his first victory of the season. No active driver has won more at Charlotte Motor Speedway than Johnson’s six victories, including three straight Coca-Cola 600 wins from 2003-2005. The other active three-time Coca-Cola 600 winners are Kasey Kahne, starting third, and Jeff Gordon, who opens Sunday in 27th position in row 14.

Coverage of the Coca-Cola 600 begins at 5:30 p.m. ET on FOX, with Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds on the call. The green flag is scheduled to drop at approximately 6:16 p.m.
