NASCAR docked Kurt Busch 10 driver points for a rules violation found on his Chevrolet following Sunday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
Kurt Busch penalized for Daytona infraction
Kurt Busch loses 10 points and his crew chief is fined $10,000 for a parts violation at Daytona.

Busch, who led the most laps in the rain-shortened race, finished third behind Aric Almirola and Brian Vickers. However, in post-race inspection officials determined the track bar on Busch’s No. 41 car was spaced more than the maximum three inches apart. The more separation the more downforce the car could potentially gain.
Crew chief Daniel Knost was fined $10,000, and the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing team also lost 10 owner points. The team had the option to appeal the penalties, but elected not to do so.
With the penalty Busch drops from 24th in the standings to 26th, but is in little danger of missing the Chase for the Sprint Cup. He is 56 points ahead of 31st-place David Gilliland, and Busch owns a March victory at Martinsville Speedway.
