Rain threatens another race for NASCAR, this time at Martinsville

The growing trend this fall for NASCAR is dodging rain drops. It’s another weekend forecast that is calling for rain. Will rain hit or miss the track this weekend? Here’s your weekend NASCAR forecast.

It’s another challenging weekend weather forecast for NASCAR, this time at Martinsville Speedway. Weather is not a concern on Saturday as we’ll see mostly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures in the low 60s. It’s tracking the next system out of the southwest that is going to potentially cause some problems.

For Sunday, it’s not a matter of if it rains but when will it rain. That “when” is key to getting a race complete or waiting out a couple of days of soggy weather across southern Virginia. I am giving the odds of racing on Sunday around 60 percent. The odds of a complete race to be around 50 to 55 percent. A little better than half.

Some showers are possible Saturday night into Sunday morning across southern Virginia. There could be a break with more showers arriving Sunday evening into Monday. I hope that is the scenario we see for Sunday’s Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500. That would mean a possible delay but could get the full race complete.

While I don’t think it’s a washout I am going to leave the chance of showers in the weather forecast for Sunday and also say there could definitely be some delays and issues due to the weather.
