A weather system will move in across southern Arizona Sunday and bring with it some moisture that will lead to isolated showers south and east of Phoenix. Some of these showers could move over the Phoenix area during the afternoon, but I anticipate most of the afternoon will be dry with a chance of a passing shower or two.
NASCAR race day weather for Phoenix International Raceway: Could rain be an issue?
With a system moving into Arizona Sunday, will it bring rain and possible delays to the Sprint Cup race?

I don’t expect rain to have much of an impact on the race. While it is possible there could be a shower, and even a delay, the likelihood, in my professional opinion, is low. We will monitor radar through the afternoon and update if weather becomes a concern. Odds of completing the race are around 90 percent.
