NASCAR 2015 Championship race at Homestead-Miami race day weather: How wet will Sunday be?

NASCAR hopes to crown the 2015 Sprint Cup Series champion Sunday evening at Homestead-Miami Speedway but will mother nature have other plans?

UPDATE 3:30 PM ET:

UPDATE 9:30 AM ET: Radar looks fairly quiet this morning over South Florida with a few clusters of showers and storms northwest of the track. A cold front will continue to work south towards South Florida and Homestead-Miami through the day and pass through during the afternoon. As the cold front approaches showers and storms will become more numerous during the afternoon. While a shower or storm is likely this afternoon there may be more dry time than originally thought.

My ORIGINAL odds of racing Sunday are were 45 percent to 55 percent. I am going to increase those odds to 50 to 60 percent. It is looking less likely of a total wash.

COULD NASCAR START AND GET TO HALF WAY? The odds of that happening have increased to 60 percent to 65 percent. The other questions is would NASCAR settle for an official race and have their championship decided by rain. I can not answer that question, but I know many fans have been asking it.

IF NEEDED WHAT DOES MONDAY LOOK LIKE? Monday is definitely drier as the cold front sweeps through taking the moisture with it. There is still a chance of some showers Monday morning but most off the day looks dry. It will be slightly cooler and windy on Monday. If Sunday were to get washed out then NASCAR would probably schedule the race for around midday on Monday.
