Kyle Busch won the Sprint Cup championship over Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon and Martin Truex Jr. Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the final race of the 2015 NASCAR season.

Under the Chase for the Sprint Cup playoff format, whoever finished best among the four remaining title contenders would claim the championship. Busch used a late restart to take the lead away from Brad Keselowski, then outran Harvick to take the race win and the title.

Harvick finished second, Gordon sixth and Truex 12th.

The championship is Busch’s first and comes in a season where he missed 11 races recovering from injuries sustained in a February crash at Daytona International Speedway. Busch was racing in the Xfinity Series when he spun and collided into an unprotected concrete wall, breaking his right leg and left foot.

Busch received a waiver granting him Chase eligibility provided he win a race and finish the regular season ranked 30th or better in points. He fulfilled that mandate by winning four times to easily qualify.
