NASCAR Sprint Unlimited 2015 weather forecast: Rain? What Rain?

NASCAR Daytona Speed Weeks has started off dry but will it last? The NASCAR Weatherman, Meteorologist Brian Neudorff kicks off the 2015 season with his weather forecast.

The 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup season starts off with the Sprint Unlimited practice today at Daytona International Speedway. You couldn’t ask for better weather to kick off the NASCAR season than with nice sunshine in Daytona. It is cool for Florida standards but compared to the cold in other parts of the United States the weather is nice for February.

Weather will not be an issue for practice today and the Sprint Unlimited Saturday night. Skies will be sunny to clear and winds will be generally light. It will be cool during the race as temperatures will be in the low 50s.

Sunday is Daytona 500 pole qualifying and they are going to use the new group qualifying format. This could get interesting as winds could gust up to 20 to 25 mph on Sunday afternoon.

What’s The Forecast For The Daytona 500?
At this time it’s still too early. I remember 2012 when all forecasts 8 to 10 days out were showing dry weather for the Daytona 500. It wasn’t until Wednesday that the forecast started to change and NASCAR ended up having to race on Monday night thanks to rain.

Right now the current outlook is promising for the Great American Race a week from Sunday but a lot can and will change. A strong system will move across the Deep South Tuesday into Thursday, which could bring rain showers to Daytona by Wednesday. Behind that front it looks cool but also dry. Only time will tell and I will keep you updated.
