2015 Daytona 500 Race day weather forecast: Mostly dry day

Passing showers caused a brief delay during NASCAR Xfinity practice Saturday, could the same thing happen for the Daytona 500?

Saturday across Daytona Beach was pretty much what we expected. It was warmer, with a mixture of clouds and sunshine and there was one lone shower that passed over the track during NASCAR Xfinity qualifying. The shower didn’t do much, and the rest of the day went on with out any weather woes.

Sunday is the 57th running of the “Great American Race” that is the Daytona 500. The last couple years have produced rain delays or at least the threat of a shower or two. It appears this year, rain is at the bottom of things to worry about at Daytona International Speedway.

Forecast for today’s Daytona 500 is nice and should be mostly dry, if not completely dry. While there were a few computer models that wanted to hint at a stray shower during the race this afternoon, I am going to keep the forecast dry. Race temperatures will be in the middle to upper 70s, the sky will have a mixture of clouds and sunshine and winds will be between 5-10 mph. Should be a very good day to kick off the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup season..
