Joey Logano won the 57th running of the Daytona 500 after taking the lead on the 191st lap and holding on through a green-white-checkered finish at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday. The race ended on a caution when a wreck occurred further back behind the leaders.

Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr., Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the top five. There were 12 leaders, 27 lead changes and 26 laps under caution.

Hendrick Motorsports stayed in front for the most part, before the 24-year-old Penske driver took the late lead. Pole-sitter Jeff Gordon, racing in his final Daytona 500, led more laps than any other driver (87), including leading at the midway point of the Great American Race. However, he finished in 33rd. Teammate Earnhardt led 32 of his own, while Jimmie Johnson, who began the race on the front row next to Gordon, added another 39.

The race was largely without incident early before the yellows started to fly in the final quarter. Landon Cassill blew an engine 18 laps in, and Tony Stewart’s hopes ended about the 40-lap mark when he went up the track and sustained heavy damage to his front end when he struck the wall. Brad Keselowski had engine problems of his own 160 laps in. Ryan Blaney made it 175 laps before his No. 21 car gave out, resulting in the day’s fifth caution.

The penultimate caution came with three laps to go with a wreck deeper in the pack, collecting Justin Allgaier and Ty Dillon primarily and resulting in a red flag.
