The weather forecast from Saturday played out as I expected, washing out the Sprint Cup Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway Saturday night. NASCAR made the smart play and postponed the race for 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
NASCAR at Richmond 2015 race day weather forecast: Let’s try again Sunday
As expected, rain won the day and washed out Saturday night’s Toyota Owners 400 Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway. NASCAR postponed the race until 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Will they race or will rain be a problem once again?

Rain showers and a few thunderstorms are likely Sunday morning but midday into the early afternoon the rain showers will diminish and exit. The odds of a delay are low, but a lingering shower could remain between noon and 1 p.m. Will NASCAR start Sunday’s race on time? Although a scattered shower is possible, the odds of starting on time is between 75 and 80 percent.
Expect the rest of the afternoon to remain dry and maybe even get some sunshine in the late afternoon. Afternoon temperatures will be in the upper 50s and winds will be generally light out of the north. I see no reason why this race can’t go the distance Sunday afternoon.
