The threat of rain returns for another race weekend. This time for NASCAR at Kansas Speedway for the Camping World Truck series race on Friday night and the Sprint Cup series race Saturday night. Then Central Plains have had to endure round of rain and storms the last several days and that pattern does not look to let up heading into the weekend.
NASCAR at Kansas Speedway 2015: Will rain dampen another race weekend?
Kansas is the third of the last four weekends where NASCAR has had rain in the forecast.

These kind of weather patterns are very hard to forecast because it is hard to pinpoint where clusters of showers and storms will form and then the timing of when they could pass over or near the track. With scattered showers and storms sometimes it’s not the rain you see on radar but the rain you don’t you have to be worried about. Eyes will be constantly monitoring and watching the the development of rain and storms as we go into Friday afternoon and evening. The other concern is the threat of strong to severe storms both on Friday and Saturday near Kansas Speedway.
WILL NASCAR BE ABLE TO RACE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY? My odds of racing are between 50 to 60 percent both Friday and Saturday night. While I expect dry time to go racing both nights, there is also the likelihood of delays and stoppage due to rain and storms. It’s not a perfect scenario but NASCAR could get both the Trucks and Sprint Cup races started, potentially to halfway and maybe to completion. The threat of storms will remain an issued for both nights.

SEVERE WEATHER CONCERN - While there’s a threat for strong to isolated severe storms on Friday, the main threat for Kansas Speedway is Saturday night. Some of those storms Saturday night could have damaging winds, large hail and possible tornadoes. If you’re going to the race this weekend be prepared, and you can use most track scanners as weather radios, too.
