The 2015 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is later in the day than in previous years. Usually the race starts closer to noon, but this year the race starts between 3:30 and 4 p.m. ET Sunday. Sunset in Indianapolis is at about 9:06 p.m. If there is a delay or two, NASCAR should be able to finish the race.
Race day weather forecast for 2015 NASCAR Brickyard 400
Chance of rain remains in the forecast, but is the threat of rain higher than the possibility of racing all 400 miles of the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway?

With that said, how realistic is a weather delay in Indianapolis Sunday afternoon? Honestly, the forecast hasn’t changed since Saturday morning. There’s still a chance of a couple isolated storms forming during the afternoon. The nature of this activity seems to be very spotty and more miss than hit. Even with that, it only takes one or two storms to hit the track for there to be a delay. Any storms that do form could have lightning, too. I’ve said this many times since doing NASCAR weather, and it holds true for Sunday afternoon. It’s not the rain you see on radar you have to be worried about, but the rain you don’t during the afternoon. I’m giving the odds of a full race Sunday for the Sprint Cup race to be between 85 to 90 percent with a chance of slight delay or two.
