NASCAR At Daytona 2015 race day weather: Coke Zero 400 with a chance of rain

Daytona International Speedway could see a similar day Sunday as it did Saturday.

Showers and storms Saturday afternoon washed out Sprint Cup qualifying and delayed the start of the Xfinity race. The main concern Saturday was not so much the rain as it was the threat of lightning. We could see a similar scenario play out Sunday afternoon and evening.

Showers and storms are once again expected to develop as we go into the afternoon and evening on Sunday. The start of the Coke Zero 400 could be delayed, but, like the Xfinity race, the drivers should be able to race. There is still a possibility of showers and storms going into the evening and night. While the threat isn’t high, the possibility of a stoppage due to rain can’t be ruled out. Between the two, there is a higher probability of things starting late due to rain than stopping in the middle because of it.

Odds of racing Sunday are between 65 to 75 percent.
