Aric Almirola won’t win a second consecutive Coke Zero 400. The Richard Petty Motorsports driver was among several swept into another multi-car wreck early Monday morning at Daytona International Speedway.
Matt Kenseth spins out to trigger another ‘big one’ at Daytona
The third multi-car wreck of the night knocked out several challengers.

The pileup began on Lap 105 just off Turn 4 when Matt Kenseth lost control of his car and turned sideways in front of Kasey Kahne. As Kenseth and Kahne made contact, the field behind them stacked up with drivers careening off one another.
“I was happy about the momentum we had, and next thing I know some cars got together on the inside and I heard the noise and heard them start to spin and thought I would be clear of it and a car shot up through the bottom of the race track and caught me in the left rear,” Almirola said. “It is a game of inches here sometimes and I think a couple feet more forward and we wouldn’t be in this. It stinks. I am certainly disappointed.”
In addition to Almirola, Kenseth and Kahne, seven other drivers received damage including Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski and Jamie McMurray. This was third multi-car incident in a race delayed over three hours due to rain.
