2015 NASCAR at Richmond weather forecast: Some improvement Saturday Night

All eyes are on the weather and the weather forecast for Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway. Rain is in the forecast but will we race Saturday or Sunday?

The weather forecast for Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway and the last Sprint Cup race before the Chase is improving some. We are starting to see a possible window of opportunity opening up as we go into the mid evening between 7 to 9 p.m. as showers and storms start to diminish and push east. The question now, is it enough to go racing Saturday night in Richmond?

WILL NASCAR RACE SATURDAY? The forecast is looking better. Showers could form as early as Saturday morning and then we could see off an on showers through the afternoon and the evening. That means it won’t be an all day soaker like last April. Showers should start to diminish and exit between 7 and 9 p.m. EDT. This could be the opportunity NASCAR needs to get the race started and possibly finished.

I’ve upped the odds of racing Saturday night now to between 50 and 60 percent. I am starting to get a little more optimistic about Saturday night racing. The only thing that concerns me is timing. If the rain is more widespread and slower to exit then we could have a problem but staying positive at this point.

IF WE DON’T RACE SATURDAY NIGHT WHAT DOES SUNDAY LOOK LIKE? There is only a slight chance of lingering showers Sunday morning, but overall the weather for Sunday is drier and cooler than Saturday. If we don’t race Saturday night, we could on Sunday.
