2015 NASCAR at Richmond race day weather forecast: Let’s go racing!

Weather forecast for Saturday night’s race at Richmond International Speedway has improved. It’s improved so much we may get to race tonight.

This has been a complicated forecast all week. Wednesday and Thursday the data I was looking at was pointing to rain for most of the afternoon and evening on Saturday at Richmond International Raceway. It had me thinking this was more of Sunday race than a Saturday night race. As we got closer to race day the timing of the rain started to come into focus and the weather forecast started to become more encouraging.

We will see off and on showers and storms Saturday afternoon across Richmond with a line of showers and storms pushing through between 4 and 6 p.m. EDT with most of the rain exiting around 7 p.m. EDT. It looks like now the rain may only cause a delay and not a complete rescheduling of the race.

My new odds of racing tonight are closer about 65 percent. I think we can race tonight and go the distance but with a few lingering showers the start of the race may be delayed and there is a small chance of a rain delay during the race. Overall, if we can get this started tonight we should be good to go for the distance.
