One of NASCAR’s all-time best restrictor-plate drivers won’t be on the track during Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway, but Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be sharing his insight from the broadcast booth.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will serve as NBCSN analyst for Talladega, Martinsville races
Earnhardt will share his restrictor-plate expertise with viewers during Sunday’s NASCAR race at Talladega.

Earnhardt will join NBCSN’s coverage for portions of Sunday’s Hellmann’s 500 and next weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway. Alongside Earnhardt will be NBCSN’s regular team of Rick Allen, who handles play-by-play duties, and analysts Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte.
“I’m excited to see these races from a different vantage point and hopefully offer some insight to the viewers,” Earnhardt said in a statement.
Letarte served as Earnhardt’s crew chief from 2011-14, guiding NASCAR’s most popular driver to five wins including the 2014 Daytona 500.
Earnhardt is currently sidelined with a concussion sustained during a crash June 12 at Michigan International Speedway, and he last competed July 9 at Kentucky Speedway. He’s already announced he will miss the remainder of the season while he recovers and is targeting a return for the start of the 2017 season, which begins with the Daytona 500 in February.
A six-time Talladega winner, Earnhardt is widely regarded as the best among active drivers in navigating the draft at Talladega and Daytona International Speedway, the two tracks at which NASCAR restricts airflow to the engine with restrictor-plates. Only Earnhardt’s father has more career wins (10) at Talladega.
