NASCAR Xfinity Series at Talladega Superspeedway results: Wild finish sees Joey Logano get airborne, Elliott Sadler win

Officials needed video replay to determine who won following a chaotic finish to Saturday’s Xfinity race.

A wild finish that saw Joey Logano’s car lift completely off the ground and NASCAR needing to use video review to determine who won, concluded with Elliott Sadler celebrating an Xfinity Series victory Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway.

Logano was leading on the final lap and just short of the checkered flag when he moved up the track to block Sadler’s attempt to pass, but in doing so Logano clipped the nose of Sadler’s car. The contact sent Logano nose-first into the outside wall where he then careened back into traffic where he was struck broadside by Blake Koch.

Neither Logano nor Koch were injured. Logano called the hit the hardest he’s ever experienced.

“(Sadler) went to make the move on the top and then he pulled it down to the bottom and got it underneath me and then I was a little late to the block,” Logano said. “He was already there. Around I went and hit a bunch of other stuff along the way.”

Brennan Poole was initially declared the winner, but the chaotic finish necessitated NASCAR use video replays to determine the exact finishing order. After roughly five minutes officials declared Sadler the victor of the Sparks Energy 300.

Justin Allgaier finished second, with Poole third, Jeremy Clements fourth and Brendan Gaughan fifth.
