For the second consecutive race NASCAR’s visit to Pocono Raceway experienced inclement weather, necessitating a postponement of Sunday’s Pennsylvania 400 until Monday at 11 a.m. ET.
Rain delays NASCAR Pocono race to Monday

Heavy rain throughout the morning pushed back the original start time, and an attempt to dry the 2.5-mile triangular-shaped track was made when the precipitation did stop. But when the rain resumed NASCAR officials elected to reschedule the 21st race of the Sprint Cup season, as Pocono does not have lights and it takes upwards of three hours to get the speedway ready.
NBCSN will broadcast the Pennsylvania 400 on Monday.
The June NASCAR race at Pocono was also delayed a day due to heavy rain and fog. This marks the first time in NASCAR history a track has had both of its races postponed in a single season. Kurt Busch won the rain-delayed Axalta 400 over Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski.
The forecast for Monday is not much better, according to meteorologist and SB Nation contributor Brian Neudorff, who projects scattered showers and storms throughout the afternoon.
Martin Truex Jr. will lead the field to the green flag, having captured the pole in qualifying on Friday. Carl Edwards starts second, Paul Menard third, Denny Hamlin fourth and Ryan Newman fifth.
