Bristol Motor Speedway’s race -- originally slated for Saturday night then postponed until Sunday afternoon -- now looks as if it will be run Sunday night.
Postponed NASCAR Bristol night race still under weather delay
Inclement weather has the NASCAR race under an indefinite delay.
After 48 laps had been completed, heavy rain and lightning forced NASCAR to postpone Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race until Sunday afternoon. But rain throughout Sunday morning and into the afternoon has placed the race under an indefinite weather delay.
According to meteorologist and SB Nation contributor Brian Neudorff, there is a window to get the race in beginning after 5 p.m. ET. The 500-lap race must reach the halfway mark to be declared official.
When the race does resume it will be broadcasted on CNBC. Live stream coverage can be found on NBCSports.com. Defending Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch is leading, with rookies Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney second and third, respectively.
Bristol is the third race of 2016 to be postponed due to inclement weather. Both events at Pocono Raceway -- one in June, the other in August -- were rescheduled from Sunday to Monday.
