What you need to know to follow tonight’s NASCAR race.

The Sprint Cup Series takes to Darlington Raceway Sunday night for the Southern 500, one of the sport’s crown jewel races. Having hosted NASCAR races since 1950, Darlington is the second-oldest track on the schedule behind only Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

Start time: The Southern 500 will begin at 6:15 p.m. ET when NASCAR Hall of Famer and three-time series champion Cale Yarborough waves the green flag.

Distance: The race is scheduled for 367 laps (501.322 miles) around the 1.33-mile egg-shaped track.

National anthem: Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady on the “The Brady Bunch,” will sing “The Star Spangled Banner.”

TV/Radio/Stream coverage: NBC will broadcast the race with its coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET. The network will also provide a stream at NBCSports.com. Motor Racing Network will handle the radio broadcast, with SiriusXM NASCAR simulcasting MRN’s coverage.

Defending race winner: Carl Edwards passed Brad Keselowski with 11 laps remaining to score his first career Darlington win.
