NASCAR playoff weather forecast: Rain will fall at Martinsville the question is when?

Rain will fall at Martinsville but most falls when there are no cars on the track

All week rain has been a topic of conversation with NASCAR fans. Surprisingly many want rain Sunday afternoon, mostly because they want to see the first “night race” at Martinsville since the track has lights. While rain is in the weekend forecast for Martinsville Speedway most of it will fall Saturday night into Sunday morning while there is no on track activity.

The threat of rain increases during the afternoon on Saturday. The odds of racing the Camping World Truck Series Texas Roadhouse 200 is 90 percent. Monster Energy Cup Series final practice could see rain but best chance comes after during the evening.

Rain is expected overnight over Martinsville Speedway with most of it ending during the morning. There is a chance of rain lingering towards noon and maybe early afternoon. This could be an issue for Cup qualifying but even with the threat the odds of qualifying are around 60 to 70 percent.

As for the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup series, First Data 500 the odds of racing are 100 percent. The odds of racing at the scheduled time is 85 to 90 percent. Odd of racing under the lights off Martinsville Speedway is 25 to 35 percent.
