The 59th annual Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday. The 2017 NASCAR season officially starts with the premiere race in the sport, live from Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
2017 Daytona 500: When is green flag time on Sunday?
Fox coverage of the 2017 Daytona 500 will begin at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday with the Fox NASCAR Sunday pregame show, followed by full race coverage at 2 p.m. But the green flag, the start of the race itself, is expected to be waved at 2:31 p.m.
Chase Elliott has the pole position for the Daytona 500 for the second straight year, joined in the first row by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., by virtue of that duo posting the two fastest qualifying times last Sunday.
Elliott is the first driver to start on the pole in back-to-back years at the Daytona 500 since Ken Schrader won three straight pole positions from 1988-1990. Elliott also won the first Can-Am Duel race on Thursday night.
