Daytona weather: Green flag forecast for the weekend

Mother Nature cooperates as we close out Daytona Speed Week and the Daytona 500.

Although wet weather threatened the Can-Am Duel at Daytona Thursday night, it didn’t rain, and the field is set for the 59th Annual Daytona 500 Sunday at Daytona International Speedway.

The rest of the race weekend is looking nice. Skies will be sunny from Friday into Sunday, with highs Friday and Saturday near 80 degrees. Sunday will be cooler, in the upper 60s, thanks to a weak cold front that moves through the area late Saturday into Sunday morning. The good news is this cold front will be dry, so no threat of rain.
