Daytona 500: When does the race start?

The Daytona 500 is just about here, and this is how and when you can watch the race.

Chase Elliott has pole position for the Daytona 500 for the second straight year, the first time a driver has accomplished this feat since Ken Schrader did it three times beginning in 1988. He’ll be joined in the first row by Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the 59th iteration of the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

The new season of NASCAR will get underway with this, one of the most prestigious races in the world. As always, it’s from the Daytona International Speedway in Florida. Fox will carry pre-race coverage at 1 p.m. ET, with the race timeslot officially beginning at 2 p.m.

The green flag, however, is expected to be waved at 2:31 p.m. A live stream of the race will be available via Fox Sports Go, though it will require log-in credentials from a cable or satellite provider.

On Thursday, Elliot won the first Can-Am Duel race and is feeling good going into Sunday’s race. For Earnhardt, it will be a big race as he’s been on the sidelines for seven months. Earnhardt sustained a severe concussion that forced him out of the final 18 races of the 2016 season. The last time he’d been in official action was in July 2016 at the Kentucky Speedway.

Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, and Ryan Newman rounded out the top-10 qualifiers.

Below is all you need to watch the race on Sunday.
