NASCAR hasn’t seen a repeat champion of the Daytona 500 in 23 years, but Kurt Busch will try to change that on Sunday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway in the opening race of the 2018 season (2:30 p.m. ET, Fox, Fox Sports Go).

Fox will broadcast the race with Mike Joy on play-by-play and analysis from Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Gordon. Online streaming will be provided in English and Spanish by Fox Sports Go.

“The prestige, history and value of that race and just being part of it over the years was special,” Busch said last week. “Now to go back there as the defending champion of the Daytona 500 gives me that much more motivation to do it again and make sure nobody shares in all the glory.”

To repeat at Daytona, Busch will have to overcome youngsters like Alex Bowman, who won the pole position in his first race taking over the No. 88 car from the retired Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Chase Elliott, who will start in the second row in fourth position.

Denny Hamlin, the 2016 Daytona 500 winner, starts in second position on Sunday.
