Windy and chilly to start the NASCAR weekend at Texas Motor Speedway

After storms and lightning delayed qualifying, weather is dry but cold and windy to start the weekend.

Due to inclement weather Friday evening, NASCAR cut short Cup Series qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway. Those showers and storms were associated with a strong cold front that will leave fans feeling a little chilly and blustery Saturday at the track.

Wind advisory until Noon CDT for Texas Motor Speedway because of winds 15 to 25 mph and gusting near or over 30 mph.

Behind the cold front Saturday, winds will be out of the north between 15 to 25 mph and gusts could reach 30 mph or higher during the morning. The National Weather Service has a Wind Advisory in place until Noon Saturday CDT.

Along with the winds Saturday, clouds will be around and it will be chilly, expect temperatures most of the day in the 40s but feeling somewhere in the 30s. Make sure you are dressed warm.

Thankfully we won’t be dealing with wind or chill Sunday for the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. Sunshine with just a few passing clouds. Could still have a slight breeze out of the SSE between 10 and 20 mph. Temperatures warming getting back into the upper 60s to near 70. Racing odds Sunday are 100 percent.
