2011 NBA Draft Results: Jimmer Fredette Selected By Milwaukee Bucks For Sacramento Kings With No. 10 Pick

With the 10th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks took BYU point guard Jimmer Fredette, and will ship him to the Sacramento Kings as a result of a draft day trade.

Fredette, the 2011 National Player of the Year for his work leading BYU into the NCAA Tournament and high on the college basketball rankings all season long, is considered a big-time shooting threat with major questions about his playmaking ability and defense. Jimmer shouldered an inordinate offensive load for the Cougars, and as such reserved energy and avoided fouls on defense. He won’t have that luxury in the NBA, and many fear that the task of chasing faster, more athletic matchups around the floor could sap his polished offense of its power. He has billed himself a point guard in the draft prep season -- much like Kemba Walker, against whom he worked out in Utah last week -- but his playmaking ability remains untested in a competitive setting. The better bet is considering him a scoring guard who can handle, like a Joe Johnson or Tyreke Evans.
