Paul Pierce might not think Celtics-Knicks is a rivalry these days, but Amare Stoudemire is playing like it is. The New York Knicks power forward has 17 points on seven-of-ten shooting early in the second quarter, with the Boston Celtics defense struggling to contain him. He’s also owning the boards, grabbing a game-high five rebounds.

The Knicks lead the Celtics 36-34 with about nine minutes left in the first half. New York led by as many as 11 before Ray Allen led a barrage to open the second quarter.
Stoudemire is on pace to approach his season high of 39. Pierce leads the Celtics with seven points, followed by Allen’s and Rajon Rondo’s six each. Rondo also has four assists. Knicks forward Wilson Chandler has pitched in ten of his own.
