On Friday night, the Miami Heat silenced the hostile Madison Square Garden crowd to notch a 113-91 victory over the New York Knicks. This win, their 11th straight, puts them at 20-8 for the season.
The Knicks put up a fight in the first 24 minutes, as the teams entered halftime with a 57-57 tie. Down the stretch, though, Miami Thrice took control. LeBron James, through 38 minutes, scored 32 points while adding 10 assists and 11 rebounds. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were good for 26 points apiece.
Just as impressive as the Heat’s offense, though, was their stifling defense. Danilo Gallinari, who caught fire in the first half and scored 21 points, finished with only 25 as he found fewer open looks to the net. Amar’e Stoudamire finished with 24 points, having shot 11-for-28. He missed a chance to extend his streak of 10 straight games with 30 points and 50 percent shooting.
The game was certainly a highlight-filled one, as players from both sides frequently treated the crowd to thundering dunks. Everyone from James, to Wade, to Stoudamire, to Gallinari, to Joel Anthony got in on the act.
