VIDEO: Chris Bosh Injury Has Heat Mad At Bulls’ Omer Asik

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh joined teammate LeBron James among the team's walking wounded Saturday night. Bosh torqued his ankle in the third quarter in Miami's 99-96 loss to the Chicago Bulls, and missed almost the entire fourth quarter as Dwyane Wade's 33 points weren't enough to earn a win. The injury happened as Bulls rookie center Omer Asik dove for a loose ball and collided with the side of Bosh's left leg.

As seen at the end of the video, the players met for a fist bump after Bosh got to his feet and tried to walk it off. But the warm fuzzies ended there as a frustrated Bosh bemoaned Asik’s decision to dive after the game. From ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst:

“C’mon, that is how guys get hurt, that is how serious injuries happen,” Bosh said. “You’ve got to watch people’s legs. I know guys want to hustle and everything but we all want to play and provide for our families and have a job.” [...]

“We all want to be healthy and that is very important,” said Bosh, who had 11 of his 17 points in the third quarter before the injury. “If it is by somebody’s leg, don’t dive for the ball, it’s too close.”

Asik, of course, couldn’t have seen Bosh’s leg before the big Turk dove, unless Asik has the best peripheral vision in human history. Bosh’s comment speaks to much of the criticism of the former Raptor, that he’s too “soft” as a big man and avoids physical contact. That reputation probably isn’t fair, but quotes like “if it is by somebody’s leg, don’t dive for the ball” -- that’s not going to help Bosh.

Windhorst reports Bosh may undergo an MRI in the coming days to ascertain the seriousness of the ankle injury. The Heat next play Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks.
