The Los Angeles Lakers shut down Orlando Magic C Dwight Howard in the second quarter, but Jason Richardson picked up the slack, connecting on two threes to reach 12 points at the break.
Lakers Vs. Magic Score: Kobe Bryant, Jason Richardson Take Over, Orlando Up 45-41
Despite Shannon Brown and Derek Fisher combining to go one-of-10, L.A. found an interior scoring advantage, with Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom combining for 26 points at the end of the first half. Bynum almost has a double-double already, with 11 points and seven boards. The Magic are still outrebounding the Lakers 25 to 22, however.
One number to watch: Orlando has turned the ball over nine times, leading to six Lakers points. If Howard and others can’t hang on to the ball, those extra opportunities for perimeter scorers to find their strokes.
