One of the more interesting recent NBA trade rumors involves Greg Oden, the former No. 1 overall pick that has seen his career fizzle due to a number of serious injuries. The Portland Trail Blazers may finally be moving on from him, if they can. They have offered him in a number of trades, according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.
NBA Trade Rumors: Greg Oden Being Shopped By Blazers, According To Report
Sources say Portland is pushing Greg Oden in trade talks. Oden's injury history, predictably, has GM's reluctant.
Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, has played in just 82 games in his four-year career due to a number of knee surgeries. The Blazers are likely trying to move him in part because he has an $8.8 million qualifying offer that the Blazers must pick up if they wanted to have a chance to keep him long-term. That’s a hefty price for someone with that kind of injury-history, so they are understandably looking to see if anyone else wants him. Given his injury history, it’s not surprising that teams are wary.
It’s not clear what Portland wants back for Oden or whether any team is interested. Oden can also be a de facto expiring contract if teams do not want to commit to him long term.
