Antawn Jamison has re-entered the deluge of NBA trade rumors in the 11th hour, as ESPN's Marc Stein reports the Golden State Warriors are in talks to bring the power forward back to Oakland in a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jamison is due $15 million next season. The Warriors already project to be over the salary cap, and could send expiring contract Troy Murphy to Cleveland.
NBA Trade Rumors: Antawn Jamison To Warriors Under Discussion
Jamison began his career in Golden State, and has bounced around the league every since. He's currently the best player on the league's worst team, a franchise clearly looking toward tomorrow. Losing Jamison for an expiring contract would give the Cavaliers cap space to work with this next offseason (depending on how collective bargaining shakes out), and would soften the blow of Cleveland's deal to take Baron Davis in a trade consummated early Thursday.
Cleveland has reportedly been looking for draft picks from teams looking to trade for their veteran players, but given Jamison’s cap burden, the Warriors may be able to pry the forward without giving up an asset beyond Murphy.
