Jared Dudley Will Not Be Traded From The Suns, Despite Prior NBA Trade Rumors

There was some talk that the Phoenix Suns might trade small forward Jared Dudley, because they have a high payroll and may need to trim salary. Many contenders called the Suns to ask about Dudley, according to multiple reports, hoping he could provide them bench depth. However, it looks like the Suns have taken Dudley off the market.

David Aldridge of NBA.com has the story:

A team source tells TNT's David Aldridge that the Phoenix Suns will not trade forward Jared Dudley before today's deadline. Several teams gave been trying to get Dudley, including the Celtics and Rockets.

Dudley has long been a valuable cog with the Suns, due to his play and his rapport with his teammates in that locker room. The team signed him to a five-year, $21 million extension that kicks in starting next season. This makes him a base-year compensation player for the year, which makes trading for him very difficult even if the Suns were more open to dealing him. As it stands, though, contenders will have to look elsewhere to find help on the wings.
