When the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies last met, Carmelo Anthony ended up the game with a deep jumper for the win. He won the rematch on Thursday too, but didn't need all 48 minutes to write it in stone. 'Melo scored 28 points, including 15 in the first quarter, as the Knicks crushed the Grizzlies 120-99 at Madison Square Garden.

'Melo was actually outscored by his teammate Toney Douglas, who poured in 29 off the bench. Douglas poured in 15 during the second quarter as he filled his spot as the third guard behind Chauncey Billups and Landry Fields. Douglas isn't the purest point guard, but the Knicks have been successful with him running the point in spurts of late, likely because Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire have no trouble creating their own offense.
New York's defense, which has become a real problem of late, wasn't exactly great; Memphis scored 1.1 points per possession, above their own standard and league average. But no Grizzly went nuts -- usually a guard or whoever Amar'e is guarding does -- and the Knicks actually did a reasonable job in keeping Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Darrell Arthur off the offensive glass. Memphis had nine offensive rebounds in 38 opportunities; given the Grizzlies' skill level at that task and the Knicks' weak defensive rebounding, it could have been much, much worse.
