The two hottest teams in the NBA met up and played killer defense against each other on Thursday, as the Chicago Bulls extended their winning streak to eight games at the expense of the New Jersey Nets, who had won five straight. The Bulls capped the game 84-73, with Derrick Rose and his help defenders holding Deron Williams to 1-12 shooting. Rose didn't shoot particularly well either, at 8-23 (and 0-5 from long-range). But he scored enough (21) to get Chicago ahead in the fourth and help the Bulls pull away.

Luol Deng (19 points, 8-17 shooting) shredded rookie Damion James, and while Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah had a rough go in the scoring ledger and allowed Nets' big men Brook Lopez (22 points) and Kris Humphries (13 and 16) to wild out, they contributed on the glass, and Noah did a great job facilitating the Bulls' offense.
Omer Asik was an absolute beast for Chicago off the bench, with 11 points and 16 rebounds in 25 minutes. He had nine offensive rebounds, beating out Humphries, who had seven for the Nets.
