The Orland Magic's Dwight Howard was held to just two points in the first quarter against the New York Knicks. The teams were tied, 18-18. Howard took only one shot, which he missed, and made both free throws in the last minute of the quarter.

With Jameer Nelson out with a knee sprain, Gilbert Arenas started the game at point guard, scored one point and pulled down three rebounds. However, he missed all four of his shots. Arenas and Chris Duhon are splitting time on the court while Nelson is out. Jason Richardson put up six points and made three steals, while Brandon Bass added six points and grabbed four rebounds.
For the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony has been around the boards, contributing five of the team's 13 rebounds. He and Chauncey Billups each had four points in the quarter. Toney Douglas led the offense with five points, but three of his fellow reserves combined for five of the team's seven fouls.
