Bulls Vs. Pacers, Final Score: Derrick Rose Scores 39 To Help Lead Chicago To A Comeback Victory Over Indiana

Tyler Hansbrough and Danny Granger threatened to steal the show for Indiana, but Derrick Rose turned in an MVP type of performance while helping the Bulls to a 104-99 come from behind victory. The Pacers were primed for a game one upset until a Kyle Korver three-pointer with 48.4 seconds remaining gave the Bulls their first lead of the game.

Rose finished with 39 points while putting the Bulls on his back for much of the game finishing 10-23 from the field and a staggering 19-21 from the free throw line. Rose also collected six rebounds and six assists in the game. Joakim Noah was quiet for much of the day but made his presence known late when the Bulls and Rose needed him the most. After Indiana had taken a ten point lead with just over three minutes to go in the game, Rose found Noah on a fast break dunk that electrified the United Center crowd.

Bulls Vs. Pacers Score: Danny Granger Pushes Indy To 79-71 Lead After Three

Danny Granger scored 10 of his 16 points in the third quarter while helping Indiana extend its lead to 79-71 after three quarters of play. Derrick Rose has been outstanding for Chicago with 30 points but Indiana has successfully limited everyone else on Chicago’s roster, leaving Rose to try and win this one by himself.

Through three quarters, Chicago has never led in this game. Every single time the Bulls have gotten close, Indiana has had an answer whether with a wide open three point shot or a Tyler Hansbrough jump shot off a pick and roll.

Bulls Vs. Pacers, Game 1: Derrick Rose Takes Spotlight As Indiana Shoots For Shocker

When Hibbert shoots well, the Pacers win. When he doesn’t, Indiana loses. Win-loss splits aren’t perfect, but Roy’s stand out: in wins, Hibbert shoot 51 percent; in losses, it’s 41 percent. Unfortunately for the Pacers, the Bulls have an incredible defense; centers shoot just .489 against Chicago, and Hibbert shot an awful 9-29 (31 percent) against the Bulls this season. (In Indiana’s single victory over Chicago, Hibbert went 5-9. Go figure.)

But as we learned with Rose back in 2009, the playoffs are different. Will Hibbert solidify his rising reputation? Will Chicago shut him down? Will the Pacers follow in the hallowed footsteps of the ‘09 Bulls, the ‘08 Hawks, the ‘10 Thunder? Tune in to find out. Game 1 begins at 1 p.m. ET Saturday on ESPN.
