Rajon Rondo has secured a postseason triple-double, and the Boston Celtics are in complete control on Friday night. After three quarters of play in Game 3 of the opening round of the NBA Playoffs, they lead the Knicks by an 86-63 score.
Celtics Vs. Knicks Score: Rajon Rondo Notches Triple-Double; Boston Cruising
Rondo secured his triple-double seconds before the buzzer in the third quarter by sinking a contested mid-range jumper. He’s only 3-for-11 from the field, but he’s added 15 assists and 10 rebounds to his 11 points. Ray Allen leads the Celtics with 26 points after three, while Paul Pierce has 25.
Meanwhile, the third quarter was absolutely miserable for the Knicks. The Madison Square Garden atmosphere, which was raucous at tip-off, has fallen flat after a quarter in which the Knicks were outscored, 34-19. Carmelo Anthony, whose heroics nearly delivered a win for New York in Game 2, is having a disappointing outing, having hit only four of 16 shots from the field. Amar’e Stoudemire, who the Knicks had hoped would make an immediate impact in his return from injury, still appears hampered, and has only managed five points and one rebound in 24 minutes of time of the court.
