Blake Griffin Named NBA Rookie Of The Year, League Announces

It's official. Blake Griffin has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. The Clippers' rookie star, who electrified the league with thunderous slam dunks and tremendous performances, won the award in a landslide, picking up 118 first-place votes.

Griffin wins in one of the most lopsided votes in recent memory. He took the league by storm in his first season after missing the 2009/10 campaign with a knee injury, averaging 22.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. His season was so good that one voter placed him third on his MVP ballot. That was obviously a stretch, but it shows the impact he had on the league.

Griffin received 590 points in total. Washington Wizards point guard John Wall was second with 295 points, while Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins finished third with 81. New York Knicks swingman Landry Fields (62 points), San Antonio Spurs guard Gary Neal (19) and Detroit Pistons forward Greg Monroe (16) round out the voting.
