According to a report on Thursday evening, Casey is the favorite to land the Toronto Raptors head coaching job and if all goes well, he could be hired next week. The Raptors were down to Casey and Lawrence Frank, but the Mavericks assistant interviewed well and emerged as the front-runner.

Casey has toiled as an assistant for much of his NBA career, only spending a short stint as head coach. The Minnesota Timberwolves hired Casey head coach for the 2005-06 season, but he was fired just a season and a half later.
