Javaris Crittenton Arrest: Alleged Shooting Was Response To $55,000 Robbery

Javaris Crittenton is now in custody and will be charged with murder in Atlanta stemming from an alleged drive-by shooting in which a mother of four young children was killed. It has been reported that the shooting was in response to an April 21 robbery of which Crittenton was the victim. The target of the retaliation was directed at a young man who was with the victim, Jullian Jones, when the incident occurred.

The details have come out from that incident, courtesy of Forbes, in which Crittenton told police he and a friend were held up at gunpoint by two teenagers:

One teenager held Crittenton at gunpoint and ordered him to “give me what you got,” he told police. He said he handed over a $25,000 black diamond necklace, a $30,000 black diamond watch, an iPhone and $25 cash, according to the report.

A loss of $55,000 doesn’t seem like a huge deal to a former first-round pick, one who made more than $4 million in his three years in the league, but considering there’s no way he’s ever getting another NBA contract, that’s a substantial burglary of assets right there.

Los Angeles’ ABC affiliate was able to reach an FBI representative on the incident, and more details surfaced on why Crittenton was also charged as a fugitive: he purchased the airline ticker for L.A. from Atlanta on Aug. 24, five days after the alleged murder occurred, according to the FBI.
