The New Orleans Hornets have just six victories this season and, unfortunately for them, they're scheduled to face the buzzsaw that is the New York Knicks to begin the weekend. There's no telling whether Jeremy Lin will be able to continue the incredible pace he's set for himself through his first six starts, but it should still be worth watching.
Hornets Vs. Knicks: Can Jeremy Lin Keep Up The Incredible Pace?
Jeremy Lin will embark on his newest conquest Friday night when the New York Knicks take on the New Orleans Hornets at Madison Square Garden.
Since Linsanity started, the second-year pro has taken the NBA by storm as he's willed the Knicks to victory after victory with moxie rarely seen in a player cut by two teams in the same season. The fact that the Knicks' top two scoring options -- Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire -- have been out for the majority of the run makes Lin's performance all the more impressive.
Lin is averaging 23.6 points, 9.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field over the past five games for the Knicks. Those are unusually high averages, but the Legend of Lin has been known to surprise us in the past.
Just as it likely will in Friday night’s contest, mentions of Lin have overtaken every other relevant storyline heading into the matchup. There isn’t much else to talk about regarding the Knicks until ‘Melo returns -- Tom Ziller broke down what that will mean -- but the Hornets are sort of a mess right now.
The Hornets' lone All-Star possibility, Eric Gordon, has missed the majority of the season due to injury. The team attempted to trade center Chris Kaman, but was unable to find a suitable trade partner after sitting him out for a couple of weeks while trying to keep him healthy. Greivis Vasquez has been a nice surprise, but his average of 12.3 points and 7.8 assists in six starts pale in comparison to Lin.
