Jeremy Lin enthusiasts, New York Knicks supporters and fans of four NHL franchises can rejoice in the news that Time Warner Cable has resolved its dispute with MSG Network, according to the New York Times.
MSG, Time Warner Cable Reach Agreement: Local Fans Can Finally Watch Knicks, Rangers, Others
New York sports fans have their teams back, as an agreement has been reached in the 48-day dispute between MSG Network and Time Warner Cable.
The two sides had been embroiled in a 48-day standoff over the fee Time Warner pays MSG to carry the station; the impasse kept approximately 2 million sports fans in the New York City area from enjoying Linsanity, not to mention the rise of the Rangers to the top of the NHL's Eastern Conference, the recent surge of the New Jersey Devils in the standings, and, well ... the New York Islanders, too.
The dispute also affected Time Warner Cable customers in Buffalo, who rely on MSG to watch locally broadcast Sabres games in Western and Central New York.
A resolution was reached with help from the office of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, which brought MSG Executive Chairman James Dolan -- also the owner of the Rangers and Knicks -- together with Time Warner chief executive Glenn Britt to accelerate negotiations.
