NBA All-Star Game 2012: Kevin Durant’s MVP Comes At LeBron James’ Expense

Kevin Durant garnered 2012 NBA All-Star Game MVP honors for his stellar performance on Sunday, scoring 36 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out three assists in the Western Conference’s 152-149 victory.

But Oklahoma City Thunder blog Welcome to Loud City couldn't help but notice that Durant's night was virtually equaled by LeBron James' performance for the East:

Interestingly, Durant's effort was matched almost identically by LeBron James, who tallied 36 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in a losing effort. LeBron's near mirror-effort continues the pairing of the two, whom seem to be becoming linked at various points in their respective careers.

KD and LeBron both signed extensions during the same summer but in opposite fashion (LeBron starred in "The Decision" while KD simply tweeted his new contract), they famously did some workouts this past summer during the lockout, they hosted a flag football game together, and are currently No. 1 and No. 2 in the MVP race in leading their respective teams to identical records in the first half of the season (27-7). Each of their teams are the odds-on favorites to meet in the NBA Finals.

Durant's Thunder and James' Miami Heat meet just once in the NBA's regular season, on March 25 in Oklahoma City, in what is likely to be one of the most anticipated games remaining on the NBA calendar.
