The Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder came out firing in the first quarter of one of the most anticipated NBA regular season games in recent memory.

In what could be an NBA Finals preview, Oklahoma City’s offense had the edge on Miami’s defense, as the Thunder shot 65 percent from the floor while getting out to a 25-24 lead after the first quarter.
The two front-runners for the NBA's MVP award, LeBron James and Kevin Durant, were both impressive in the game's first 12 minutes.
James had six points on 3-5 shooting while dishing out three assists; Durant had seven points on 3-4 shooting and three assists.
Kendrick Perkins had a surprising eight points, as he was the beneficiary of some excellent passing from the Thunder, which had nine assists in the first quarter. Derek Fisher made an appearance as well, providing excellent veteran leadership while going 0-1 and committing one foul in relief of Russell Westbrook.
