VIDEO: Mike Brown Makes Right Call In Benching Kobe Bryant And Andrew Bynum
There always seems to be something going on with the Los Angeles Lakers. The latest incident? Coach Mike Brown sitting stars Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum for extended stretches late in games -- Bryant because of his shot selection, Bynum because of his three-point attempt against the Golden State Warriors. That's set off the typical media soap opera that tends to result when things like this happen.
This all begs the question: did Brown do the right thing in sending a message to his stars? SB Nation’s Ben Golliver says yes.
According to Golliver, Brown needed to send a message to his best players to remind them who was in charge. Given that two lingering issues with the Lakers are Bryant’s shot selection and Bynum’s maturity, this was as good a time as any for Brown to reel them in. Better now than during the playoffs.
