Heat Vs. Lakers Score Update: L.A. Leads Despite LeBron James Warming Up

The Miami Heat chipped into the Los Angeles Lakers' double-digit halftime lead in the third quarter of their showdown in Tinseltown on Sunday. But the Lakers still lead 71-62 heading into the fourth quarter, despite LeBron James helping bring the Heat to within striking distance in the third.

James, who has 23 points, eight rebounds, and five assists on the game, had 11 points in the period and helped draw the Heat within two points midway through the quarter. But the Heat’s supporting cast isn’t quite performing at his level today, with no other Miami player making more than half of his shots.

Kobe Bryant, on the other hand, is playing well and getting contributions from fellow Lakers. Bryant has 24 points, and has made 10-of-16 shots, but three other Los Angeles players — Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Metta World Peace — are all in double figures. And World Peace's 15 points have been a huge help for a Lakers outfit that has struggled on offense in the 2011-12 NBA season.

James and World Peace were among the players involved in a squabble at the end of the third quarter, but no blows were thrown and no fouls charged.
